Rice Krispie Squares

What would Saturday night be without some kind of treats eh? I couldn't decide between Chocolate gooey Cupcakes and Rice Krispie Squares, but seeing how we were in the middle of watching The Aviator, I opted for the krispie Squares...fast and yummy to eat, even before they set. I melt the marg in an 8 cup measuring cup in the nuker, then add a bag of marshmellows and nuke them for another minute. By now, they will be starting to balloon out. Take them out of the nuker and stir them down while mixing them into the melted butter or margarine.
Usually all of the marshmellows aren't quite melted, so after they are stirred, I nuke them one more time for 45 to 60 seconds. You don't want them to puff up and out of the measuring cup. Add your teaspoon of vanilla and stir it in, before starting to add your krispies.

Now I butter up a plastic 9x12 container and after stirring down the marshmellows, I start to add rice krispies. I try to stir in as many as my measuring cup will hold. When the bulk of them are coated with marshmellow goo, dump those into your tupperware or plastic 9x12. Then add more rice krispies to the rest of the goo in the measure cup and stir them up and dump those . In three goes, you ought to have your melted marshmellows all mixed into rice krispies, and dumped into your tupperware container.

Run the tines of a desert fork thru some hard margarine to coat the tines and then use the fork to press down the marshmellows to condense and flatten them a bit. Cool, cover, slice, eat. You have now dirtied only one big measuring cup, a fork, and a spoon and a knife if you cut them. This can all go in the dishwasher. Eat the squares...speaking of which, I think they are cool enuf to have them stick together in a "piece" and eat them normally. I like them gooey and that, they are!

Mostly I only yearned for one square, but since Emil isn't a big sweet eater, I might as well have two pieces and make a night of it.I'm on my second pot of tea already!
I burned the roof of my mouth on something the other day...don't even know what, and it has slowed my consumption down. Half of my "roof" was affected...no hot tea or coffee, no acidic anything. My fresh pineapple felt like vinegar in an open wound!
It is still on the mend and Rice Krispie squares are perfect for it!

Well,I must admit I blew half the day away on ebay. Had to give myself a slap to drag my butt down to do laundry, then take Silk for a walk.

I can see why people have to sell on ebay...they have over-purchased! This could be me in the future...selling gemstones on-line!
I decided I couldn't pass up a few cubic zirconiums today, and some more amethysts and a ruby.As I said before, some people gamble and some do ebay!

The week seems to fly by now, with me working at Kolmels. It has been a slice learning about the different gemstones and also getting to know the Owner better, as she had some time to come in and show me more procedures. I have to say that the incoming stock is very beautiful. I encourage everyone to get get in before the Valentine's rush, as she will be putting out loads of new gemstone rings and earrings. Yum! Sparkle! Yum!

Speaking of Valentine's day- After a busy day at the store, about 8 of us will go up to MAry Hall for their famous Valentine's dinner. It will be a relaxing and delicious way to wind the day down. That will be the end of their gourmet dinners for this season. They also serve a great buffet lunch daily, that I have yet to go to...mainly due to forgetting about it altogether.
E and I did dinner at the BBI last night. We both chose the steak sandwich special that was on...came with a good Caeser salad and fries.. and jugs of Nelson Honey Ale were on special...just to top off our dinner.

Time to surf a little more then go to bed... Love ya all and hope to see everyone soon!

Gem of a Night.

I must say I was excited when I reached inside my mailbox and drew out a tiny packet from half way around the world!
Yep, my gemstones arrived! Yippee!
I could hardly hold myself back from opening the package right there in the car!
So, I can't say that I am at all disapointed in what I recieved. The pics below will show my inventory. I'll be figuring out a design to utilize these in some fun jewellery that I'll get Chris to make. Mmmm...can't wait!
I did vote and our district did, indeed vote in Alex, so that is good. As we go to bed tho, the country is in a stalemate between Libs and Cons.. What is this nation doing to itself?
Okay, I am yawning furiously ... must hit the hay as I was up early today.
My apologies for my Powerpoint that I sent out. I thought it would open as a Slideshow, but it never. You can view it as a Slideshow by choosing View and Slideshow and the photos will fill your screen. I see I have more to learn.
Good night for now
Love Yas and Miss Yas!

That is one honkin big Peridot

The biggy is 20mm square.. The two dark triangle ones are called Trillium cut and are also Peridot tho much darker. The big one is somewhat lighter than the picture shows.
The aquamarines are by far the most beautiful of all...crystal clear and many faceted. The little red ones are ruby and are also very nice. Nothing like taking a ride on Ebay to find some fun. Now I hope Chris can make some of these into pendants or rings.. I'll start by melting down the jewllery that E. doesn't wear! I'll take any contributions... just pop them in the mail to me:-). Posted by Picasa

VoteVoteVoteVoteVoteVoteVoteVoteVoteVoteVote

I don't want to hear any whining or crying from anyone next year if they didn't go out to vote. The Poles open at 7:00 am and close at 7:00 pm, and voting will go faster if you have your voter registration card. Check on it to see at which Polling station you should vote. We have to drive out to Proctor, so we'll probably make a run for it early in the morning before I go to work.

This reminds me that I ought to go to bed so I can get up early and go vote. ( I cheated and had a nappy-poo on the couch this aft.)

Voting for the right party is critical and I am sure everyone will make their choices.
Just remember that Layton ( that will be Alex Atamenenko) in our area, will keep the interests of the working people in mind and a vote for the NPD could at least keep a minority government in check. Just remember how Mulrooney left the country when he departed...turned my stomach then and still does. And then there is Paul Martin...and he has a turn your stomach quality also...

Okay, I usually don't get political, and Steve will badger me for it, but hey, there is a small readership here that should know we will always vote N.D.P. until we die and that will never change...
You know... the death and taxes thing and vote thing. So there. Just go vote eh?

So I got stuck on Ebay tonight ...bidding on ebooks...started with the Crinoline Hazel Atlas dinnerware, then advanced to gems and somehow got sidetracked to ebooks. Now, here is the deal. You pay a buck or two for an ebook and then you download it and can reference it anytime or even resell it...... I am bidding on Chinese Recipes and forget the Secret Powers of Gems book because I have been outbid two times.. oh well.

I just won a bid on a gem from the USA, so we'll see how that goes. I pay using Ebay.ca have arrived in perfect conditon without any hassle. You can check the sellers feedback ratings for their status before buying to see how they measure up. At the same time they will be checking your status too, so you both earn a positive Ebay reputation in the end. I would like to learn more about selling and get into that a bit. I guess one should be a "garage saler" to begin with, and I am far removed from that, but I could start selling junk from my house...or these gems if they are poor.

So the week-end was a slice...so nice to have a weekend at home for a big change from Marks. I cleaned the entire house and washed all my floors and patched and painted walls, and put all my pottery and junk back up on the newly finished mantle. Maybe I'll get some framed pics hung over the piano, now that I have my big painting unhung.. and what to do with that...maybe sell it on ebay.. can you imagine shipping a 4 by 5 foot painting somewhere?

The other thing I worked on was a powerpoint presentation of the photos I took down at the lake and lagoon. i sent them out to peops on higher speed...anyone else can ask me for it..it is about 4 MB.
If anyone can tell me how to have one piece of music continually playing throughout the whole presentation, I'd appreciate it. I had far too many photos to call it a presentation that I could email, so had to dump nearly half of them.. maybe the plan would be to take them in a smaller resolution next time. I don't know...I need help...HELP!!!!!!

ok bedtime... a week of work and then it will be the end of January .. Wow! We have less than 8" of snow..a crazy winter down here.
Also had nice chats with C.S. last weekend, and VB and EM this weekend...plus my own dears.. Lots of laughs about E. going to the Nickleback concert with Annette and Lawrence, in Kelowna. He never heard anything so loud in his life. Far cry from the April Wine concert of 76 in Montreal that he last attended! Too Funny.

Remind me to tell you about Sonia's New years Eve...speaking of too funny. Here is a hint. Never leave a large dog ( a Lab) alone with a plastic flashlight.

Who loves ya the most???
