Okay, I had this all written out once and made it magically disappear into thin air,so now I am a little PO'd. What I did mention, was the weather...It was slushy, sleety, snowy, rainy and all of the above mixed together. I am so greatful to my good neighbour, Heavy, who gave me a ride into work this am. 60km an hour all the way...in a 4x4,so I was most relieved I wasn't driving my clunker.Christmas shoppers were out in abundance, despite the weather, and my morning sales were awesome, between slippers and these beautiful Polish Glass vases that we carry, not to mention the Tiffany Lamps...and the new crystal fountains we have in stock. I was thankful also, that we had a gal from high school doing a work experience,so she helped me out with many things, and I hope I taught her a few things also...Lets just say, I explained in detail how to gift wrap!
My day wouldn't be complete without an adventure (cada dia esta una adventura)!
I took the bus home for my very first time. Wow...that was a tour and a half, but I must admit we arrived efficiently within 45 minutes and I walked onto the ferry and caught a ride with the neighbours...
Excellent way to go when the roads were covered with three inches of slop and compact slop, mixed with wet slop and slip slop.
My big find, at Hippersons were LED Xmas lites. Unfortuneately they are sold out of the outdoor lites, but here is an example of how cost efficient they are...600 LED outdoor lights burning for 6 hours a day for 30 days cost .45 ( that is 45 cents), as opposed to incandescent C-7 bulbs...cost of $31.30 to burn them the same amount of time...HUGE SAVINGS EH?
Yes, they cost a little more, but they are guaranteed for five years; they don't heat up and they don't blow out bulbs etc. I bought some little twinkle types and have a set lit up on my mantle and they are eye catching to say the least..and not hot after two hours. The brand is Forever Bright If you click on that link, you can read about them and if you scroll way down, you can see some examples of them...Very KOOOOOOL.
G'nite 4 now

TGIF
Well, you asked for it,so here it is..."The Fudge Recipe"
Mrs. Pemberton’s Brown Sugar Fudge

4 cups brown sugar
1 cup of milk( I used half whipping cream this time and it worked well)
2 tblsp flour
2 tsp baking powder
Mix the above together in a heavy pot ( I use my pressure cooker, because it boils up quite a bit)
Have ready
4 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla
and a small pyrex ( 7x10) buttered)

Cook fudge until it turns a darker brown and makes a snappy sound when stirred. You can keep checking it by dripping some into some ice-cold water and check what stage it is at. It should make a soft, but firm ball ( around 250*) on the thermometer
Take off the heat and cool for 3 or 4 minutes, then add butter and vanilla( and nuts if you like) and use a wooden spoon to beat it like hell! Quickly pour into a buttered pan before it sets!
I poured mine, then pressed walnut halves into the warm fudge and cut it before it cooled completely.
I have never tried other flavourings, because I make it so seldom, but I guess one could add a little maple walnut flavouring in addition to the vanilla, if you are adding pecans or walnuts.
Make enough to give you a belly ache!

It is Still Thursday
Oh my,a long day today, after taking sister J. in for her knee surgery. All seemed to go well for her, except that they didn't get her in, until 3:00 ( as opposed to 10:45) so I had oodles of extra hours to boost the economy in the Smokey ol city.. Mostly hit up the Italian market for the likes of Genoa and Capicola and other wonderful smoked meats...Just inhaled a sandwich and it was dee-licious!
Before I hit the hay, here is a site (called bluechillies.com for more Xmas stationery downloads ( mostly originating at Cloudeight, but this site also offers a download ( Scrippy 2.01) to build your own stationeries. I downloaded it, and will give it a try when I get some time.
If you haven't tried some free mind games from Moraff
then by all means, try them out...they are easy to install/remove and they are good brain food...lots of new ones also...Especially good is the new Morejongh. They are also offering some Xmas specials on their game cd's and dvd's
Time for beddy byes...morning comes quickly..b.

Today is Still Wednesday
I have the fudge recipe ready to e-mail, if anyone else would like it, as I don't see a way to print anything from Blogger.
Yippee...the five stupid doors are finally painted - two coats of primer one side, three coats the other and then two coats of good paint on top of each of those...Stacked end to end, I could have painted the highway into the city by now!
And I was so accomplished today, that I rewarded myself with colour! Iwas able to paint the ensuite with two coats of this wonderful bird's egg blue...WOWIE...That will wake up the room( and anyone else who enters it!). I was so sick of it being off-white for 7 million years! It will be a pleasant change.
Tomorrow will be a no-paint day as I take my sister into TRH for her knee surgery..I'll do a little more Xmas shopping and will try to get to the Italian grocery for some Genoa and Capicola and Procuito? You,know, all the delicioso italiano Meats. I'll probably have to make another trip back there before Xmas...Who can resist eating it all up?
Have a great day tomorrow.
Ask my dog not to bark in the middle of the night tonight.
Ask my sinuses not to act up.
Let me sleep,sleep sleep,z-zz-z-

Ok It is wednesday and I am wide awake at 5:00 am with a splitting sinus headache that I hope a Sudafed will cure..because today is "the day" to paint, that is. I had an awesome day at work yesterday and learned a little more about the history here in Harroponian Land. A fellow was in the store with his two sons. He came from the coast where he sails his boat around the San Juans for something to do, but he was raised here and his dad was a captain on the ferry here for 35 years. In fact his family, "the Ogilvies" were the second settlers in this area, and still own the farm up Mill Creek. Interesting to meet people and more interesting to meet someone who passes along some history.
Everyone is at least thinking about Christmas shopping, so sales were great at the store. First thing in the morning, I sold the Blessing Goddess fountain and then later a beautiful Tiffany Lamp...someone's mom was buying it for her for Christmas...Nice mom..eh?
The head feels somewhat better,so I think I'll catch another 40 winks.

I did it...painted one side of my five doors with two coats of Berkshire white and an additional coat of primer to begin with. They are beginning to shape up. The two bathrooms are ready for their colour coats now,so Wed. will be my big colour painting day...Yippee...Maybe it will look great for Christmas...
I made brown sugar fudge tonight with walnuts in it...Pretty yummy if I say so myself. I was just so desperate for something sweet to eat. Let me know if I should post the recipe here. It is relatively easy to make...
Goodnight for now. I think I have a tummy ache...

Check out my new links..

Okay, another frickin frackin freezing day out there and I have 5 doors to paint with two coats of good paint, and they are propped up in my garage. I guess this means firing up the heater in there to make it human enough to paint and also to allow the paint to dry..Brr.
With that in mind, I'll eat some breakfast, get on the woolies ,take out some meat for dinner, and head outdoors. I have to think positive...If I get the doors painted, then I can move on to COLOUR which will give me much more incentive to finish painting these four rooms,at the very least. I have to say that the tuff stuff is done...holes filled and sanded, celing painted, light fixtures washed...
Three of my days this week will be messed up with work and taking my sister in for her knee surgery, thus it is time to get my obeast butt in gear here...

So I'll work on the photo sites so I can share photos, especially since I have a new and improved camera.
Today was freezing cold out -5* for most of the day with a little windchill to totally numb everything. Hubby and I hung more violet and green lights so that the three peaks were done on the old part of the house and the area surrounding the old balcony. Human popsicles.
That was us by 3:30, when we headed in for a hot rum before getting ready to go to Al and Eleanors for dinner...in town.
She put on the perfect Atkins total meal- an appetizer of smoked salmon topped with dill , pork rind puffs, and an accompanying whipped sauce to go with both the salmon and the puffs.
The next course was a perfect looking roasted Cornish hen in a wine /cream sauce with veggies in the form of whipped cauliflower and a medley of carbo-free zuc's and peppers and onions ... Delicious! Desert was a stunning Creme Brulle?...tasty and lite and beautifully served... I loved her Santa motif charger plates for a preview of the Christmas season.
We dined and wined and enjoyed the evening and dropped their daughter off on our way home. She was concerned with the recent surge of B&E's in her neighbourhood. Sad to hear of more and more of this going on.
Well,it is time to call it a night...g'night all...

I'd like to show off my photos of the Xmas lites, but I can't find a sight that will store the photos so I can make a link to it...I'll keep working on this one..

No reproduction of photos without permission of obeast, thank-you.
